Write Your Life in 200 Words or Less
Wednesday, March 21 from 6-8 pm
Memoir doesn’t have to begin at the beginning starting with when you were born. Sometimes a single moment, vividly depicted, illuminates a life.
If you’ve wanted to write memoir but are overwhelmed at the immensity of the task — or you’re already writing about your life but need a fresh approach — consider the micro-memoir. The smaller format can be freeing, allowing you to concentrate on an event that serves as a microcosm of the larger experience.
This 2-hour workshop on the micro-memoir — in which you’ll write a piece no longer than 200 words — will prove that less can be so much more. We’ll learn a popular technique that unpackages the idea of the micro-memoir as a way to start capturing details of a unique life well-lived: your own.
Along with in-class prompts and plenty of writing time, you’ll have the opportunity to read your micro-memoir aloud to the group.
