What is a writing prompt?
A word, a phrase, an idea can spark a story, an essay, a poem, a memoir. That’s what a writing prompt is, and we’ve got an evening’s worth. Armed with your preferred writing tools (laptop, pen and paper, etc.), spend an hour doing prompt-based writing. At the end, sign up to read what you’ve crafted, or take it home and expand on your work.
Maybe you’re a seasoned writer, maybe you dabble, or maybe you’ve always wanted to write but have never gotten up the courage to do it. The above venues regularly host free nights of writing prompts and readings, allowing you to refine your writing skills or simply begin to write.
